Jessie | Maternity | Billings, Montana Birth, Newborn & Family Photographer Tiffany Edwards

Updated: Jun 15, 2023

Being that I'm pretty obsessed with this whole session, I'm dying to share my personal favy favs with you all! Jessie totally didn't even think she wanted maternity photos and I'm pleased to report, she's happy that she did!

The first set was with freshly done hair + make up (Kendra, you rock girl!), green gown provided by yours truly and handmade headpiece- also provided by yours truly. Location: Dover Memorial Park (Billings, MT)

Our second set consisted of another super cute dress, provided by me, and has a much more filmy, moody-vibe. We got to Lake Elmo (Billings, MT) right at the tail end of the good light. Crazy how much the location and time of day can change the vibe.

TOTALLY in love with both sets! and DYING to do more.

And last but not least, since we had our session together- Jessie has since had little LUCAS IZAYA! And her birth story is too good not to share. As told by Jessie, via her Facebook post:

"Well I know everyone has been waiting so sorry it's so long but here's my birth story. This requires a back story. Last week we decided to strip my membranes. I was at 2 cm 70% effaced. Later that day I started getting contractions 5 minutes apart. Per hospital policy I timed them for an hour and then came in. They had me walk around for 2 hours and then informed me that my contractions weren't doing anything and were only happening because of the sweep. They sent me home and told me next time I get contractions to try drinking a glass of cold water, laying down, and taking a warm bath to see if that helps. Fast forward to yesterday. I go back in to get checked and I'm at 4 cm but only 80% effaced. And we start talking about inducing me next Friday. I was super discouraged and felt like my body was failing. While down there they asked if I wanted to try a membrane sweep again. I figured why not if I'm getting induced in a week anyways. So we do the sweep and all day I feel completely normal. No contractions no real changes. So I figured the sweep didn't work. Went to bed about 1130. Around 230 am I wake up to a pretty intense contraction. And they start coming at 5 minutes apart. So I try changing positions and it's not helping. So I go and get myself a glass of water and that doesn't help. Finally I decided to try a bath and figured by the time that I'm done with the bath it'll be an hour of tracking contractions. While in the bath they get pretty intense and I wind up screaming which wakes up my husband. He comes running into the bathroom and asks if it's time. So I tell him I think so and to get me my labor paper to call labor and delivery and let them know what's going on. So he runs out to the truck to grab it and I start puking. At this point I know its labor. So I call labor and delivery at 330, exactly an hour after my first contraction, and they tell me to come in and they'll be expecting me. So I get up to try to get dressed (I'm still fully naked from the bath) and walk out to my room where my husband is getting dressed and trying to get my 3 year old dressed without waking him up. I feel like I have to go to the bathroom so I run back and as soon as I sit down my water breaks. So I yell to my husband that my water broke and he's like "on the toilet?! Heck yeah no clean up" haha. So I'm a little worried because it's going super fast so I go out to our living room to grab my onsie jammies coz there's no way I am gonna get fully dressed and I feel a contraction and I feel my body pushing so I scream which wakes up my 3 year old who comes running out terrified. I realized that the baby was coming and there was no getting to the hospital so I scream at my husband to call 911 and he's like "no you can make it. They won't get here in time anyways your scaring Marshall! Let's go!!" And I'm like "NO THE BABY IS COMING NOW CALL 911!!" He yells "OKAY BUT DONT PUSH!" to which my son yells "YOU CAN DO IT MOMMY!!" By then baby's head is crowning and my husband turns around in a panic seeing this and yells "MY PHONE SAYS I HAVE NO SERVICE" so I throw my phone towards him (it's a brand new phone and my husband hasn't used it yet) and push. Baby comes out in that one push and my husband is like "I DONT KNOW HOW TO USE THIS" meanwhile my 3 year old is like "MOMMY POOPED THE BABY!!" so I grab the phone and call 911 while my husband runs around grabbing towels and a bowl of warm water and is trying to find the booger sucker. The lady on 911 tells me to wipe off baby's mouth and nose and to find a shoe string or a string to tie off baby's cord. So I inform her that it's wrapped around his neck. Not bad but just wrapped around the back. So she tells me to unwrap it but to NOT stretch it or pull on it. Which is way more confusing to figure out than you'd think. But I finally do that and my husband grabs his sweatshirt string and ties the cord. So I ask her the time and she says 335. By then it had been about 2 minutes since I delivered him. So we figured he was born at 3:33. 3 minutes after calling labor and delivery and an hour and 3 minutes from my first contraction. A few more minutes and the paramedics are at the front door and my husband let's them in. They cut the cord and check baby and my vitals and let me know that the fire department is coming too. Baby is a little cold but other than that we are good. But here I am completely naked, covered in blood, I haven't delivered the placenta so I have an umbilical cord hanging out of me and I shit you not one of the hottest firemen come in. Of course. So they have my husband grab me undies and a shirt and then take me to the ambulance. Get to the hospital and they have me deliver the placenta and I get stitched up. Baby is healthy, mommy is healthy, big brother was very excited about the firetruck but won't stop telling people about how mommy pooped baby brother out of her butt... And we need to replace our living room carpet but with all of that please welcome to the world Lucas Izaya Polk born December 14th 2017 at 3:33 am 8 lbs 4 oz 21 inches."

He's a healthy, beautiful baby boy and I CAN'T WAIT to meet him!
